Leadership Styles &
Team Administration
Understanding your default style is just the start. Effective athlete-leaders flex between styles based on the moment, the person, and the goal.
You inspire your team toward a shared vision. You communicate purpose so clearly that people perform beyond what they thought possible. Transformational leaders are the heartbeat of championship cultures — they connect the daily grind to something bigger.
You lead by removing obstacles for your teammates. Your job is to make everyone else's job easier. Servant leaders earn deep loyalty — teammates know you're fighting for them, not just the scoreboard.
You involve your team in decisions, creating shared ownership of outcomes. When teammates co-author the strategy, they fight harder for it. Most effective when time allows collaboration.
Clear, decisive, non-negotiable in high-pressure moments. When the game is on the line, directive leaders cut through noise and provide certainty. Use deliberately — it commands respect when earned, breeds resentment when overused.
You invest in the long-term growth of individuals. You ask powerful questions instead of giving all the answers. Coaching-style leaders build future leaders — they multiply leadership throughout the team rather than bottlenecking it.
